Impact of the Uncounted Ballots
We finally have all of the votes from November's election counted (albeit unofficially). Through a public records information request, we obtained copies of the uncounted Temple Terrace ballots and performed an unofficial tally. Those ballots contained the following number of votes for City Council:
This means that the gap between Ms. Neale and myself narrowed from 84 down to 52 votes, but the end result is unchanged. I would like to thank Ms. Neale for her patience with this issue, and would also like to thank Supervisor of Elections Phyllis Busansky for her integrity and desire to make sure these votes were counted.
Sharon Samek, a local attorney, was a huge help in finding this low cost, quick way of resolving the issue. In the end we saved everyone a lot of time and money bytaking this approach rather than filing a lawsuit, and citizens of Temple Terrace should be pleased to know that their votes did matter in this close election. Finally, I want to thank everyone, no matter for whom they voted, for taking the time to vote and for supporting the various candidates.
I look forward to working with Council on a number of issues over the next couple of years, and I also look forward to meeting more of you on the campaign trail in 2010.

November 2008 Election Results
The results are in, and unfortunately I came up 84 votes short for the second seat on City Council. The results can be found at the Supervisor of Elections website. (Go to the bottom of the 5th page.)
Coming Soon
Given the tremendous amount of enthusiasm that people expressed for the ideas I put forth during this campaign, I plan to use this website to advocate new ideas for Temple Terrace over the coming years.
Please check back in late November for web videos, links, and updates on how we can continue to move Temple Terrace forward.
Thank You
My deapest gratitude to everyone who either spread the news about my campaign, gave me encouragement, or donated to my campaign.
I take great pride in having run a groundbreaking campaign.
For those just visiting this site for the first time, below is the original text of my home page:
As a candidate for City Council, I want to preserve what is good about our community and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead of us to ensure that Temple Terrace remains the best place to live in all of Hillsborough County.
I have a vision for our future that goes beyond low tax rates and maintaining the high level of service that we have come to expect from our various City departments. We have an opportunity to lead Hillsborough County by example in everything from redevelopment to transportation solutions, energy efficiency initiatives, high quality schools, and outstanding public parks.
But to do this, we need leaders who bring something unique to the process and have a vision for our city's future. I hope you will agree with me that I have the right mix of professional and civic experience for the job. I hope that you will help me by voting for Dave Penoyer for Temple Terrace City Council on November 4th!

This campaign should be about ideas and a vision for our future and not decided on name recognition or sound bites.
